네오이뮨텍, 카포시육종 치료제 美 FDA 임상 1상 승인 부터 Hankyung - Investing.com

네오이뮨텍이 미국 식품의약국(FDA)으로부터 ‘NT-I7’에 대한 용량 증량 임상 1상을 승인 받았다고 26일 밝혔다.

이번 임상은 연구자 임상으로, 프레드 허친슨 암센터의 암 면역치료 임상 네트워크(CITN)가 주도한다. 인체면역결핍바이러스(HIV)에 감염이 됐거나, 감염이 되지 않은 모든 카포시육종(KS) 환자를 대상으로 한다.

네오이뮨텍의 신약후보물질인 NT-I7은 T세포를 생성하고 증폭시킨다. T세포가 부족한 환자들에게 NT-I7를 투여해 T세포를 늘리는 것이 임상의 핵심이다. 카포시육종은 HIV 감염 등의 이유로 T세포가 부족해지는 악성 종양이다. 혈관의 내피세포에서 발생해 피부나 기타장기에 발현된다.

양세환 네오이뮨텍 대표는 “그동안 미국 항암전문 기관에서의 임상 1상을 통해 NT-I7이 고형암 및 뇌암에 대해 모든 환자의 T세포 수를 현격히 늘린다는 것을 확인했다”며 “안전성과 내약성을 확인한 후 다양한 적응증에 대해서 임상 2상을 진행 중”이라고 설명했다.

양 대표는 “이번 추가 임상 1상을 통해 NT-I7이 카포시육종 환자의 T세포를 증폭시켜 림프구감소증을 해결할 수 있는지 확인할 예정”이라며 “긍정적인 결과를 얻을 경우, 카포시육종 치료제로 개발하기 위해 다음 단계의 임상을 수행할 계획”이라고 말했다.
